Starting to read the article, I was afraid that the students would have used the knowledge they got in that place to start distilling alcohol themselves ;-) so it was a kind of a relief when I read they "only" consumed the samples, even though I understand how terrible you must have felt, candidly expecting them to do the right thing. I can relate to that as well, and I would add we should try and identify our expectations, and most importantly, communicate them clearly. In another setting, my 9 year-old son escaped to the bathroom as soon as my parents arrived and stayed there for 20 minutes, until my husband furiously shouted at him that he was being impolite for not coming to say hello to his grandparents. On hindsight, we hadn't explained to him that it was rude, expecting him to automatically act like us, while he was only behaving according to his nature...

It is possible that a few of the students did attempt to make alcohol at their homes and never told me:-)
